Welsh Conservative MEP, Kay Swinburne has today backed the campaign to remain in the European Union.
Kay Swinburne commented: "David Cameron has fought a hard battle to secure a formal agreement over a special status for the UK in the EU. If the country approves the deal in a referendum, we will get to enjoy the best of both worlds – sovereignty over our currency and the Bank of England, sovereignty over budget matters as a non-euro country and freedom to police our own borders by staying out of the Schengen area. While retaining the access our farmers and businesses currently enjoy to an enormous market where we can choose to live, work, study, and travel freely.
“Many jobs in Wales and the UK hinge on this free movement of goods, workers and services around the EU.
"Leaving the EU would be a retreat from the world stage at a crucial time for our national security. Working within the EU on common problems like Syria, North Africa and Russia is just one of many areas where we really are stronger in Europe."
